Increase Your PPC Conversions

I’ve just seen a new product launched which claims to help increase your conversions if you run PPC campaigns. Actually, it’s not limited to just PPC, it’s for landing and sales pages of almost any kind.

The kicker is that it’s a WordPress theme which doesn’t look anything like WordPress. It’s designed for creating single pages that look like standalone sales pages, or landing pages. There’s none of the usual ‘furniture’ that you get on blogs, so there’s nothing to take you off the page itself. No distractions = more sales, so the theory goes.

It’s a sound theory and as far as the product goes it’s not badly priced at $47. You can take a look at it by clicking here.

Before you do though, I should tellĀ  you that it’s relatively easy to create a WordPress theme that does this. Easy, that is, if you already know how to do it. If you don’t know how, it’s as clear as mud.

I’d like to gauge the level of interest for such a specialized theme, because if there’s enough interest I’ll create one and sell it for considerably cheaper than $47!

So how could you use such a theme?

  • Have a separate and unique landing page for every product you promote
  • Control all your landing pages within your WordPress dashboard
  • Use suitable keyword URLs for your pages – no more hunting for keyword domains
  • Avoid ‘leakage’ – once a visitor lands on your page there’s nothing else to take them off it
  • Use the scheduled post feature of WordPress to change the main “landing page” for your site every week – you could offer a special deal that lasts one week and then sit back and watch as it updates itself. You’re not limited to weekly deals – you could have a different deal every day of the year, if you wanted to. You could even have different deals hourly on special days, like 4th July! Keep your visitors coming back for more!
  • Create single page product review ‘mini sites’ around a central topic. You can link them if you choose, or leave them unlinked and separate.

If you’re interested in acquiring such a theme please leave a comment here.

If there’s enough interest, I’ll create the theme and offer it for sale at $17. For anyone who leaves a comment here you can have it for just $7.

So to recap: if there’s enough interest in having such a theme I’ll create one especially and for anyone who comments on this specific post you can have a copy for:

$7

UPDATE 17 July 2009: I’ve created the theme and it’s sold well at $7 and it’s now selling at $17, although I’ll be raising the price to $27 soon because of all the extras I’m adding to it. For everyone who’s commented on this post I’ve decided to give you a copy of the theme for free as a thank you for joining in and commenting. Emails should be with you shortly. If you haven’t received an email please let me know and I’ll take care of it for you.

I’m creating a plugin that will make this theme even better. I haven’t yet decided whether to charge for it, or add it to the theme itself, but I think it will add a great deal of flexibility so I’m looking forward to announcing it once it’s ready.

I love WP, because it’s easy to install with Fantastico or Simple Scripts and I would be interested in such a theme

      Ciao, Alexander, come stai? Benvenuto!

WordPress is very simple to install and use, you’re quite right. But hidden underneath all that simplicity is a lot of power.

Ok, as you’re the first to comment about this theme, when it’s ready it will be my gift to you, free.

By the way, I read your post http://www.comeguadagnaresoldi.it/come-aumentare-i-guadagni-con-adsense/ (I had to use Google translate since I don’t speak Italian). Your point about changing the colors of the ad blocks is a good one and something that many people don’t take the time to test. You really need to test a few variations to see which works best for your site, since there is no sure-fire way to know without testing. As you point out, the increase in revenue – if you get it right – can be significant!

    Hi Amin,
I would surely like to get such a software for the price of 7$. So if you make it please inform me.

    • Amin says:

      Hi Ashfaq

      Thanks for joining us!

It’s a WordPress theme, rather than software, but as soon as it’s ready you’ll get it for $7.

count me in Amin. you could get 27 easy for it.

  • dale says:

Thanks for letting me know about this software. I would very much be interested in purchasing it, especially at only $7!!

  • JimK says:

    Hi Amin,

How would your theme be different from any of the free one column themes already available?

    Hi Amin,

This is, without doubt, a no brainer. The idea of using probably the most powerful tool out there, Word Press, to set up your own minisites sounds dreamy to me. See Dreamy to me, I’m a poet and didn’t no it!

How long before I can pick up my new WP theme?
    Very Best Regards,

    Douglas

    • Amin says:

@ Johnny, thanks for commenting and yes, as soon as it’s ready I’ll email you to let you know.

@ Dale, welcome. I thought it might be quite nice to offer it at $7 to anyone who comments, because I got started originally with the $7 Secrets, which many people are still using today and as a pricepoint it’s pretty attractive. I also wanted to make sure readers who add value to this blog by taking the time to comment, got something back in return for their time. I know time is the most valuable commodity we all have!

@ Jim, welcome and good question! Can I turn it around and ask you what you think would make it different? Is there something that the others don’t do, that you’d like them to do? By the way, I’m not 100% sure from the wording of your question if we’re talking about the same thing. Normal 1-column themes have traditional WordPress ‘furniture’ on them, where the theme I’ll be delivering won’t.

It will make WordPress, in effect, almost a minisite generator, of sorts.

@ Douglas – absolutely right! WP is pretty powerful and Google loves blogs. In the final analysis, content is content after all so who’s to say you have to build minisites the hard way? When will it be ready? It will be ready by July 4th, which seemed a propitious day for it!

Sounds like that type of theme would be great for those niche blogs which pretty well leaves me out. I don’t have all that much of a problem with people clicking on my ads as I have finding PPC ad compaigns.

    • Amin says:

Hi Sire, thanks for dropping in.

You make a fair point and for many people it may not be appropriate. There is a pretty large body of hard-core internet marketers who would find the power of WordPress, combined with the simplicity of a specialized theme, just their cup of tea.

I know you like the FlexSqueeze theme, which is a very nice theme. I’m using it myself on a couple of sites I’m building.

But a plain jane type of page in some cases is just the right look. Remove the clutter of a ’standard’ WP install and it becomes a different beast completely. I know from the questions I get on the support desk that many, many people find all the tech stuff pretty hard. Some people don’t even know that a blog is a website, for example.

I think for those who are not comfortable configuring themes and settings and the like, an easy, clean solution is beneficial.

      Amin

  • Sire says:

Funny that you should mention the FlexSqueeze theme as it is the one theme that needs hardly any knowledge at all in regards to configuring it as it is all done from the admin page.

Still, I agree with you that there are certain times when you need something simple to concentrate your visitors on whatever you are emphasizing and the less clutter the better, and if you can provide that at a cheaper cost I reckon there would be quite a few people that would take you up on it.

BTW, have you ever considered installing a ’subscribe to comment’ plugin. It’s a great way to ensure people come back to the posts that they like?

    • Amin says:

Interesting view and because I find the admin page on Flex very straightforward I tend to agree with you, although my experience suggests it could overwhelm a lot of people.

On the support desks I cover, during the last couple of years I’ve seen well upwards of 40,000 questions (answered most of them, as well).

What still surprises me regularly in those support requests is the gap between those who already know how to do something and those who don’t. I’ve found most of us who already know how to do something forget how hard it can be to acquire that knowledge. You run 7 blogs so you’re very experienced, but I constantly see people who don’t really even know how to add a post – you’d think something that fundamental would be easy enough.

Good suggestion on the comment plugin. I’ve been ‘meaning to’ for a long time! Since you’ve called me out on it I’m going to do that today!

      Amin

UPDATE: Hahah, that took me 5 minutes. I’ve been meaning to add such a plugin for a long time. Goes to show even the easiest jobs can sometimes get left behind.
