Good point, Bonnie.

I think this is like so many things with web marketing, or promotion. You have a million techniques available for promotion and some will work better than others for you. Those are the ones to concentrate on, but not necessarily to the exclusion of everything else. Sites specifically in the niche of your article have the immediate benefit of (usually) having 'qualified' visitors. That's a big plus.

I do get more traffic from specific websites who use my articles rather than from article directories. I still think it's worth submitting to the top ten or twenty directories but I also recommend you submit to individual websites on the topic of your article.

Hey Jan, you're very welcome! They are stylish, aren't they?

The only thing I would say to everyone is that you do need to optimize the image size, because it will be waaaay too big if you don't. I did come across someone who was actually going to use them unoptimized - that web page would have taken an hour to load.

If there's enough interest I may make a little video showing how to optimize the graphics, just in case anyone's not sure how to do it.

@ John
'Proper' grammar should never be allowed to ruin the message. If your article conveys information as intended, then it's done its job. That said, most people will find that good grammar helps to convey that meaning.

It doesn't have to be an exercise in academic perfection, but it shouldn't be so bad that nobody can read it! I've sent you some information about Jon's system.

Hi Amin,

Great article I think the idea of having articles posted on other sites is a great idea . Very good way to advertise your own site. Also like Dense said Article Directories are getting harder to submit a article to at least ones that they will except. The way I look at it most people are not too concerned with proper grammar and sentence structure. They are more interested in getting good quality content that they can use, but hey these are just my thoughts :).
PS I wouldnt mind finding out more about the Leger 3WayLinks system that Jan was talking about.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Properous New Year

I just thought I'd throw this in to see who's actually reading the comments carefully.

In the spirit of this post, if anyone has an interesting article that they think would work well on this blog, please send it to me and if it's suitable - and not *too* self-promoting - I'll publish it here and promote the page. I reserve the right to correct spelling and punctuation!

@ Dense

thanks for the tip about Helium and Bukisa. I've never used them, but I'll look into that - it sounds interesting. Payment and link juice? Got to be worth a look.

@ Jerry

You do need some kind of web hosting and a domain to make use of the templates, yes. Domains can be as low as 99c for the first year and hosting can be bought for a few dollars a month. If you don't already have a domain and hosting account I'd recommend you get a generic sounding domain name so you can put lots of different stuff on it. If you've signed up to this blog you get some software and tools for selling so you'd be almost ready to go with the templates. The finest way to learn - in my opinion - is to have a go and then *learn from the things you do wrong*.

When I started I hadn't a clue how to upload files, set up domains, use Paypal, create PDFs, protect files, embed audio...it was a long list. And I learned one thing at a time.

These templates may be a bit advanced for you because you need to be able to use Gimp or Photoshop to get the most out of them. If you contact me on my support desk at www.sublime-products.com/support and let me know what you're interested in, I'll see if I can find some more suitable templates for you.

Hi Amin, This is really good stuff to know, especially when some of the Article Directories have decided that they don't want to publish the articles that we have slaved over.
Another thing that I have found has helped to get good links AND make some money in the process is to submit my articles to places like Helium.com and Bukisa.com. Some of the web publishers who pick up your articles have high ranking PR sites that get your link some good PR juice and on top of that they acutally PAY you for the right to get to USE your article.
Just FYI,
Cheers, Denise

Hey Jan, thanks for the kind words. Yes, that video was mine. I'm trying to put together some more training videos, but the big problem is making the time to do so. Doing them well takes a lot of time. I've never liked videos that don't give me time to think, so I try to build in thinking time in any I create.

Maciej: 1waylinks automatically syndicates content for you, including backlinks to your site. You have to provide the content, but even a 250 word post will do the trick. As for getting your article used, that's probably as much trial and error as it is skill. Just don't take the first no as a permanent no. Keep writing and keep asking - somebody will say yes at some point.

Bernie: "A person doesn’t mind being pitched to but remember they are alway tuned into their favorite station: WIIFM". Very true. Very true indeed. Nobody likes to be thought of as an open pocketbook, but we're all willing to spend if there's something in it for us, right?

Pete: you never know until you ask! I did a couple of guest blog posts a while back and got a lot of traffic from them. I figured the blog owner can say no if they don't want my post. They said yes. Actually one of them now gives me all his products for free, which is very nice and unexpected. So I got traffic, permanent backlinks and some extra benefits. But I had to make the first move!

Hi Amin!

Thanks for (yet) another interesting post. It's always worth the time to read your posts, so I have been doing just that for a while.

When you talk about 1-way links I guess what you're really thinking about is the new Jon Leger 3WayLinks system.

I'm using that system, and it's working as advertised.

And while we're talking about the Leger 3WayLinks system:

As part of the 3WayLinks instructions there are some videos, and there is a guy called Amin narrating.

I have NEVER been more impressed with the comments to instructions in my life; your voice is clear, you don't talk (too) fast, and it's a joy to listen to your voice.

On some other sites the comments to videos run like a run-away express train, but it's a pleasure to listen to your clear instructions.

Way to go, Amin!

Thanks, both for your blog posts, and for understanding how to talk so that even those of us not born with english as our first language are able to keep up.

Cheers,

Jan

Interesting idea. How does 1WayLinks really work? Does it go to other sites and puts there some content with the link to my site?

Another thing is how to persuade people to use my article not the other thousand on that topic? Is it header that drives the attention?

I know the biggest challenge with this type of "advertorial" writting is not to get too much "advert" and not enough "torial." The more valuable the content is to a prospect, the more likelky he/she will click though. A person doesn't mind being pitched to but remember they are alway tuned into their favorite station: WIIFM
"What's in for me?" Once they understand the features and benefits and how they can use them...Happy Sales!

Yeah, i believe as well that getting 1 way link back to your site is the most effective way to market your website. Dont think it will go wrong as long as we create good quality links that link us back.

Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the tip, Amin.

I write a few articles from time to time and submit them to the regular directories, but never even thought of offering them to other site owners.

Thanks, Ben and Riley. There's an email coming to each of you with a download link.

Interesting, isn't it, that we all probably know of sites that haven't been updated in a long time, yet stil hold good search engine positions. Fresh content is the mantra and it's important, that's for sure, but good links can keep a site up there even without regular new content.

Now, links *plus* content, what a combo!

My site has not been updated for awhile and still the incoming links are helping me hold my position and grow so I agree 100% 1 way links are crucial to SEO success online.
